It actually has nothing to do with writing. The big surprise today is that I got engaged last night. It involved snow, a hollow book, and us getting our butts frozen, but myself and Jenelle are now engaged. Now all the fun begins as we plan the actual day. At least both of us agree that we want a rather short engagement. I know. I too am amazed she said yes. What was she thinking?
Jen with her hair a little longer than it is at the moment. I’m sure there will be more pictures as time trundles on.
I see that smile.
I really am smiling.
Congratulations! Jen is beautiful.
A hollow book? Did you hide the ring in there? Do tell.
Robin,
You guessed it. While I didn’t make the book myself, I was inspired originally by this link:
http://how2dostuff.blogspot.com/2006/02/how-to-make-secret-hollow-book.html
My one attempt to create one ended in a sticky mess, so I picked one up from a more professional hollow-book source and secreted the ring within. I’ve made a habit of giving Jen the occasional book from work, and so when I presented her with it on a walk through a snowy park late at night, she just expected it was another story she might read if she got the time. Then, as she flipped past the first few pages, it opened to the hollow section, revealing the ring.
That was when she figured something might be up…
We’re very excited, and are already in the groundwork stages of planning the ceremony. I’m sure you’ll hear the occasional wedding madness update.
Clever and memorable. Well done!
Been praying for you and Jen for a while now. Thanks to having a dear friend, Beth. Your mom.
Looking forward to hearing all about it.
Congrats!
