HarperCollins’ new sci-fi imprint

Just a quick announcement to point out that there is now one more place to send your science fiction manuscript to. HarperCollins, one of the bigwigs of publishing alongside Penguin, Random House, S&S and others, has launched a new imprint called Angry Robot, devoted to publishing two science fiction books a month–mostly paperbacks, but with some limited edition hardcovers thrown in the mix.

Official announcement be here…

They will be focusing on working with less-established authors, though ones they already have published one or two books with–in order to promote the “authors of the future,” listing such names as Cory Doctorow and Fiona McIntosh. And their intended target audience is said to:
…target early adopters of science fiction, who begin reading the genre between the ages of 14 and 16, and the “massively aggressive consumers” of the titles, who are aged between 27 and 40

So, there you have it. More science fiction coming our way. Who can complain?
I see that smile.
