Odd Thomas TV

I’m a big fan of Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas series (as well as much of his other work), and so I was excited to get the latest newsletter with some insider info on the new book, Odd Hours. Not only that, but they’re going to be broadcasting a web-only, four-part mini movie starting on 4/29. The title is “Odd Passenger.” So check back with http://www.oddthomas.tv/ to

Oh, and if you haven’t checked out The Good Guy, Koontz’s latest thriller, it’s out in paperback now, so all the more reason to pick it up.

Anyone else a Koontz fan?

I see that smile.

I certainly liked the Odd Thomas books. Do you think television will manage to not mangle the character’s very pure and innocent (for a given value of innocent) nature? Part of Odd’s appeal is that he’s so anti-Hollywood in his mores.

Well, if you watch the snippets of book trailers they’ve done for Odd so far, I like that style..keeping his face out of the frame, kind of detached from the character image. It’ll be interesting to see how they do a whole mini-movie, but I doubt Koontz will let anyone mangle the guy up for the sake of Hollywood drama. I’m guessing it’ll have a more personal feel to it, since it’s web local, instead of some blockbuster deal.

    Hey Josh, Marj here.

Howe are you? We miss you two a lot. How’s Denver? Funny, I got your blog from my boss who gets notifications of blogs that mention Dean Koontz. Scary, I know. We are watching. Anyway. Right you are about the Odd videos. Have you seen the newest video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Th9JJLCQA. This is kind of a webisode, meaning there will be a continous story leading up to the new novel, Odd Hours. enjoy!

Hey Marj! Good to hear from you. Interesting roundabout way of crossing paths.

I have watched the first episode so far, and it shows promise. I look forward to seeing the rest of the bits play out, and it is always fun to see a literary character get played out in real life, so long as it doesn’t hurt the quality of the story. What did you think of it?
