While it’s not the “ultimate incarnation of the fantasy novel,” as some people claim, Patrick Rothfuss‘ The Name of the Wind is one of the best that I’ve read in a long while. If you haven’t read it, I hope your excuse is that by some cosmic trick of the universe, you just haven’t heard of it until now. Other than that, for shame.
So with Rothfuss having an expanding presence online and in the various conventions going on (check out this recently run blog contest from Tobias Buckell for a more infamous Muppety moment), here’s a cool opportunity to hear the foundations of learning and imagination that eventually grew into Kvothe’s world of the Four Corners, and all the adventures had there.
Remember though, just because it’s a video doesn’t mean you have to stare at the beard the whole time.
